OCEAN FALLS REPORT by Peter Marshall

Month of Protests During the month of December an almost endless stream of protests were directed at Crown management: - scheduling of maintenance work for the Boxing Day Statutory Holiday, which could have been done on the routine Maintenance Shutdown of January 2nd. - delaying a meeting on Mechanical Reclassification; the meeting should have been held on November 1st, but as yet, no meeting - Protests were also lodged over two instances where the Company violated a local agreement which requires that the Union Executive will be notified if any employee is required to work more than 16 consecutive hours. - the Local also sent a letter of protest to Brother Biasutti complaining over the fact that the Job Evaluation Board had yet to make its first visit to Ocean Falls.

December Meeting The meeting voted to purchase 1200 copies of the BC Fed Booklet on Prices and Profit for door to door distribution in town.

Departure Len Reitlo will be leaving Ocean Falls to take up a salaried position in the new mill at Prince George.
