Ocean Falls Report by Peter Marshall
Most people will, by now, have heard that Brother Bob McCormick is
leaving OF. Bob will take his departure on May 19th. At the April
meeting of Local 312 a suitably inscribed watch was presented to Bob in
recognition of his services to the Local over the past few years. We
wish Bob, his wife Barbara and son Bradley the best fortune where ever
they decide to settle down.
After repeated attempts to settle our problems with Nelsons Laundry we
are just getting nowhere, commitments are made by Nelsons and then are
not kept.
As a result of Brother McCormick's impending departure, Brother Jim Reed
moves from Treasurer over to Financial Secretary. Bro. Len Reitlo moves
from Standing Committee to Treasurer and Bro. Peter Freund moves into
the Standing Committee.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to the Local's able secretary Br. Eric
Day, presently having minor surgery in Shaughnessy Hospital.
Bro. Bill Smalley will be taking over as Associate Editor of the Western
Pulp & Paper Worker for a spell.
... Ocean Falls faces a possible cut back in operations this summer due
to water shortage, due to low snow storage on the mountains.
