Howard Sweeps Ocean Falls Polls
Frank Howard NDP candidate for Skeena who polled 550 votes in the last
federal election here, increased his vote by some 150. Local NDP
activists together with a number of hard working trade unionists made
Howard's campaign a tremendous success.
NDP supporters obeyed the law and stopped campaigning at the time the
law requires. It was interesting to note that the supporters of "Dief
the ....." ignored the law and still go beaten. Next time maybe they
should play by the rules.

Ocean Falls Report by R.McCormick
... I always find it difficult to say anything good about the Company,
however there is no doubt that there had been quite a change in Labour
Relations in our little Metropolis over the past two or three months ...
One of the outstanding changes here in the last while has been the
attitude towards the Safety program. .. Throughout the recent drive on
Safety there have not been the previous tactics of threats, etc, to try
to intimidate the worker on the job. There has been a definite trend to
talk to the men on the job and get their ideas, rather than tell them.
Labour day is fast approaching and this being the 25th Anniversary of
the local we will be attempting to put on the best Labour Day yet. ...
To any Old Timers living in or out of OF I would appreciate if you could
send any information concerning the organization of the Local, or any
information that may be of interest in forming some kind of History of
the Local.
