Mill on Short Time
Ocean Falls - The members of Local 312 and 360 are still on short time
of four days one week and five the next.
At the present time we understand that management is seriously debating
whether to start No.1 Machine up in March. If this is done the people
here will return to a forty hour week
Quite a few people in OF seem to be of the opinion that the short time
here is the opening gambit of the manufacturers in that contest know as
"Wage Negotiations".

Seven Day Running For Paper Machines
Ocean Falls - Starting the week of April 19 Nos. 1, 2 and 3 Paper
Machines in the CZ mill here returned to a seven day per week production
for an indefinite period. No.'s 4 and 5 Paper Machines are to stay on
five days per week for the present. ...

this province it becomes obvious that management's propaganda about high
wages pricing them out of business is just so much poppycock aimed at
their objective of keeping wages down in order to make more and greater
profits. ...
