New Union Office Opened

The project was something of a pipe dream until the January 1954 meeting with Brother George Thompson, then local 312, in the chair, it was agreed that we proceed forthwith to build a new Union Office... 50 cents per month per member was assessed to form the nucleus of the building fund ... It might appear that we have taken a long time from January 1954 to March 1956 to put up a single story building and it would be a difficult task in retrospective evaluation to ascertain where we accumulated such a time loss ...

(continued on page 6) ... Present at the opening Ceremony in the afternoon were: Brother John Teevin, International Representative of the Paper Makers, Brother HL Hansen International representative of the Pulp, Sulphite Union, Mr, RR Ferguson, resident manager, Mr. ME Patterson, assistant resident manager, Mr. JM Heaps, Plant Engineer, all of Crown Zellerbach Canada Limited; and Mr. DB Blair of the Pulp and Paper Industrial Relations Bureau in Vancouver.
