Mr. A.B. Martin returned from his visit south the first of the week; he reports that business conditions are in best shape across the line.

The Camosun arrived in port 13 hours late this week; an unusually heavy load of salmon on the way south caused the delay.

The Princess Mary has taken the Princess Beatrice run for a time.

A case of drunk & disorderly came before magistrate Schlicter this week; the result was $20.00 and costs.

The pulp mill is now running night and day and Supt. Willington is busy accordingly.

Port clearances this week: south - Venture, Catriana and Prince Albert; north - Camosun; north and return - Princess Mary.

The Ocean Falls company's logging camps on South Bentick Arm have closed down for the winter. About 65 loggers left for the south on the Venture.

A family quarrel among the Hindoos caused Jagear Singh and Juan Singh to come before magistrate Schlicter recently and the song the two Singhs sang cost them ten dollars.

The sudden death of Mrs. A.D. Norton after a few hours illness caused the postponement of Halloween festivals until next week. Mr. Norton leaves on the Venture with their children for their home in Washington.

The CP streamer "Queen City" made its first call at our port on Thursday night. The Queen City will take the place of the Princess Beatrice for the winter and will arrive on Thursdays instead of Fridays.

The first shipment of pulp was made this week to Japan.

Mr. Mark Smaby of the Ocean Falls Co. with Mr. J.A. Burke of Tacoma have been here [Bella Coola] for the past week. The gentlemen have been engaged in making a close inspection of the Bella Coola river as regards suitability for logging. It is sincerely hoped that the OF Company will decide to utilize the river for this purpose at an early date.
